FRAMING your FOREVER MOMENTS with LOVE and LIGHT
A picture is worth a thousand words.
or so they say.
I believe pictures are worth far more than a thousand words. Pictures are priceless. They’re moments frozen in time, there for you to remember and to be instantly transported back to when it was taken.

About Niki
the photographer behind the lens
A North Dakota-based wedding, portrait, lifestyle, and landscape photographer
I capture memories, creating timeless narratives through my lens. My work not only reflects the joy and intimacy of these cherished moments but also embodies the elegance and beauty of candid shots and real moments.

Niki’s Style and approach
I believe in capturing genuine emotions and natural moments
It allows the true essence of each individual to shine through. By combining an artistic vision with technical expertise, using lighting, composition, and color to create stunning and timeless images. I pay attention to every detail, ensuring that each photograph tells a unique story and showcases your personality.
My love for photography blossomed when I picked up my first camera in elementary school.
I’ve come a long way from the days of carrying around my Barbie film camera. I was first introduced to the world of digital photography in middle school, needless to say, I was hooked on the whole creative process. While I was in college, I minored in photography where my main focus was 35mm black and white film. After college, I set off with a plane ticket, a suitcase, and my camera with a mission to see and capture the world.
I am an accomplished, award-winning photographer having been featured by Nikon Australia, AFAR Media, Expedia, and tourism boards around the world for my travel and landscape photography. When COVID hit, I decided to stay closer to home where I began mastering astrophotography, storm photography, and portrait photography, and continuing to expand my photographic editing skills.
why HUNTLY
I didn’t want my photography business to be my name even though I have shot and done work as Nichoal Photography in the past, it just didn’t ring true to the brand I was trying to create.
I also wanted something with meaning to me that also ties back into my family and ancestry.
My first choice was the old Gaelic word on the family crest, Bydand (sounds like boo-don). I love the word and the meaning of it, but it’s not something the general public is able to easily pronounce. So back to the drawing board I went.
The Gordon Castle, though now in ruins and a historical landmark anyone can visit, is located in Huntly, Scotland. Once I played around with the name Huntly and logo designs with a Scottish thistle, I was hooked on the idea and Huntly Photography was born.
